Talk to strangers, face to face

Some of the best conversations happen with people you'll never meet again. OmegleTV connects you with a random stranger on video in one click — here's how to make those chats great, and how to keep them safe.

Why talk to strangers at all?

Talking to someone outside your usual circle is surprisingly refreshing. There's no history and no expectations, so conversations tend to be more honest and more spontaneous. People use random video chat to practise a language, get a fresh take on a problem, kill some boredom, make someone laugh, or just to feel a bit less alone on a quiet evening.

Because every chat starts from zero, you also get to be whoever you want to be that day — chatty, curious, quiet, funny. And if a conversation isn't working, nobody minds when you move on.

How to start a great conversation

  1. Smile and say hi first. A friendly face is the fastest way to stop someone from pressing Next.
  2. Ask an easy, open question. “Where are you chatting from?” or “What are you up to tonight?” works better than “how are you?”.
  3. Look for something in their background. A guitar, a poster, a pet walking past — it's an instant topic.
  4. Share a little about yourself. Conversation is a two-way street; give them something to ask about too.
  5. Don't take Next personally. People skip for all sorts of reasons. Just say hi to the next person.

Keep it safe

Talking to strangers is fun as long as you stay in control of your privacy. A few habits make a big difference:

  • Keep identifying details private — full name, address, school, workplace, phone number.
  • Don't share your social media handles with someone you've just met.
  • Check what's visible behind you on camera, like letters, ID cards or your street.
  • Never send money or gift cards to someone you met in a chat, whatever the story.
  • If anything feels off, press Report and then Next. You don't owe anyone an explanation.

What if nobody's online?

Quiet moments happen on every chat site. On OmegleTV you won't sit in front of an endless loading screen: if we can't find a person in about ten seconds, one of our AI coaches picks up so you still have someone to talk to. Each coach has a different personality, from motivation to fitness to just chatting about anything. They're always labelled as AI, and you can press Next any time to look for a real person again.

Questions people ask

Is it safe to talk to strangers online?

It can be, if you protect your privacy. Don't share identifying details, end any chat that makes you uncomfortable, and use the Report button when someone breaks the rules.

Is OmegleTV anonymous?

You don't create an account or give us your name or email. The other person can see and hear you on camera, though, so treat what you show and say as visible to a stranger.

Can I talk without showing my face?

Yes. You can turn your camera off at any time and keep chatting with your voice only.
